DOCUMENTARIES

“MEN ARE PARENTS TOO!” is our new documentary project for 2011 offering a positive image of men as parents. Its intention is to educate and open space for discussion. It sheds light on men’s efforts to be active and constructive role models for their children. It relates their emotions, thoughts, and opinions on the obstacles men face in accomplishing that objective.
“MEN ARE PARENTS, TOO!” seeks to show that men are deserving of the same considerations, recognitions, rights & privileges for their part in our most important resource, children.
Here AfterDark CATV PRO showcases clips of the efforts men have undertaken to celebrate fatherhood, recognize their role & significance as parents, and the activities & events that bring them together.
In our “Events” page, take a look at the photographs of our June 16, 2011 fund raiser at Amor Cubano in Spanish (East) Harlem. The work is that of Veronica Caicedo of Caicedo Productions. You may know of her from her work as theater manager at LaTea as well as her directorial work on “Junkies Stole The Clock”, “Rememberin’ Rei”, and her latest effort as director, “They Call Me La Lupe”.
We know how difficult it is to make ends meet but, we request your best effort to include our productions, the communities we serve, the voices we lend ourselves to and reach deep into both your personal & professional pockets and contribute to our productions. Also we ask that when you visit our pages, stop & view our clips, leave a comment and spread the word to others. It’s just as important as is your dollars!

WCIC Fathers’ Day Neighborhood Picnic 2010.
In the bleak surroundings of the inner city, the Washington Community Improvement Council (WCIC), a home grown, non-profit community improvement initiative, created by native sons and daughters of New York’s Spanish Harlem, have kept an abandoned & neglected playground as a viable resource for recreation, social preservation, and a centerpiece celebration of fatherhood.
WCIC has restored life to the park now called Cherry Tree Park and features an annual cultural touristic attraction, a continued boost to the local economy, and a contribution to the community’s well-being in celebrating Father’s Day for the last 25 years and all without gentrification…on their own!
